ART AT BURNING SEED

Arts Co-ordinator

Thank you so much for showing interest in presenting art that you would like to show and produce for this first year of Burning Seed 2010, the 1st Australian Regional Burn.

As you well know this is our first burn here. And as you well know, we have to be respectful of the weather conditions here. We are cautiously approaching the idea of "let's just burn it all down". If you are planning on building a large scale structure that requires a small crew to come onto site prior to the opening of the event, we will need to know this If you are planing on building a sculpture that will take a day to assemble. We will need to know this.

If you are planning on building a sculpture that you all intend to burn, we will ABSOLUTELY need to know this !!!

I will personally also add that all of the applications for Burning Seed 2010 are reviewed by the board of directors so as to ensure that the quality of proposed artworks and their placement are relevant, and more importantly, that they resonate with the greater community. Finally, the safety of the community are put first and we honour our participants and their involvement.

If we are all on the same page, well, ...let us plan....

We would love to make our first experience be one in which we are able to walk away and say... "that is what I have always wanted in a burn".

If this best describes what you and your fellow 'burners' intentions of this year's event are...

Please contact me as I am available to discuss all things pertinent to our experience this year.

Your Sincerely,

Paul Jorgensen.
(Arts Co-ordinator)

Newsflash

Burning Seed 2010 - the first Australian regional Burning Man event took place on the June long weekend from Thursday 10th June to Monday 14th June 2010.

The theme for the first official regional burn was ‘Creation’, aligning with the idea of the beginning.  Participants of this newly emerging community were active in creating the story.

The aim is to gather momentum to stage a full scale 'Australian Region' - Burning Man Event - in the Australian desert, or suitable outback region, in the not too distant future.
